Christi Swick represents school districts and private sector employers in employment discrimination cases, labor negotiations and personnel actions, as well as student discipline and special education matters. Christi has successfully defended employers in both federal and state court, as well as before arbitrators. She also has counseled school districts on the discipline and discharge of tenured teachers and has defended school districts in unfair labor practice charges before the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board. In addition, Christi regularly counsels employers on preventative actions, including drafting employment policies and advising employers on preventing abuse of sick leave policies. She has a special interest in the involvement of technology in schools, and frequently speaks on the pitfalls of social media in school districts and other places of employment.

Betsey A. Helfrich graduated magna cum laude from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law in 2006 and in the same year was selected as a Tierra Farrow Outstanding Woman Law Student. Betsey practices in the areas of education, special education, and labor and employment law, including appellate practice. Betsey regularly provides general counsel and training regarding child custody disputes and their impact on schools, teacher discipline matters, employment discrimination, technology safety in schools, and the proper utilization of technology in the workplace. Betsey has successfully represented school district clients against a variety of claims in state and federal courts as well as in administrative hearings, including special education due process hearings.
